“Tuesday, I ran into an old friend who said

‘I thought you were dead.’

I didn’t know what to say.

A few things came to mind:

‘Not yet’

‘Sorry?’

‘Thank you.’

What I arrived at… and in plenty of time… was

‘Thanks so much for coming to the funeral… the family really appreciated it.’

And I am still thinking about Tuesday…”
